The Country Roads and Ranches of the West Headquarters sits smack dab in the center of one of the most unpopulated areas left in the lower 48. Recreation opportunities are simply unparalleled. World class fly fishing in this famous mecca of the sport is available just minutes from Sheridan on such fabulous fisheries as the Ruby, the Beaverhead, the Big Hole, the Jefferson, the Madison and the Red Rocks. There are numerous superb spring creeks, sloughs, and lakes.

Big game hunting or just plain wildlife watching is among the best anywhere. Thriving herds of elk, white tail deer and mule deer abound and there’s plenty of trophies. Great golf courses, ranging from a fun and beautiful nine holes, to championship eighteen hole courses designed by Jack Nicklaus are about a half an hour to slightly more than an hour away depending on the course. Some of the best skiing in the world is an easy day trip...........Big Sky (1.5 hours), Bridger Bowl (1.3 hours), Grand Targhee (2.0 hours), Jackson Hole (3.0 hours), and Maverick Mountain (.75 hours). Sheridan abuts the Beaverhead National Forest, which boasts enough hiking, exploring, and just plain pretties to satisfy the most ardent explorer, mountain biker, or hiker for years.

Boating, water skiing, sailing, and great lake fishing is available on Ruby Reservoir just 18 miles south where a busy day, like July 4, might have two or three boats!  And one of our ranches, the exquisite Ruby Lake Ranch, controls miles of the western shoreline of that pristine water body.  Just an hour away is mighty Clark Canyon Reservoir, another boating paradise.

River drifting opportunities within a stone's throw of Sheridan would keep the most ardent drift boaters/rafter awestruck for many a summer.

This is horse and cowboy country. Hundreds upon hundreds of miles of trails, devoid of people, beckon the horseman and the open, rolling foothills leading up to the big peaks can give years of riding enjoyment without ever riding the same trail twice!

Waterfowling for both ducks and geese is absolutely exceptional. Sheridan lies in the middle of the Pacific Fly Way and the myriad of rivers, ponds, and warm water sloughs in the area attract ducks and geese by the thousands, indeed the tens of thousands, in the fall and early winter.

Bird watchers can delight in over 100 species of songbirds, countless raptors including golden and bald eagles, great horned owls, and virtually every Rocky Mountain hawk known to man!
